From the beginning, our goal at Olliff Farm was to produce an egg reminiscent of the backyard chicken that we all remember, to bring back those memories of what a good egg tastes like!
We wanted to farm traditionally, producing tasty and nutritional eggs
with animal welfare at the forefront.

We quickly discovered by giving our girls a high standard of living with lots of pasture to roam on, the great tasting egg followed.

Pasture farming was the only answer for Olliff Farm. This style of farming is the true measure of free range. It's labor intensive but it's the only style of poultry farming that allows chickens to get back to their natural environment & exhibit their natural behaviour 24/7, which we believe is how it should be.

Our moveable coops are a stand-out aspect of our farming method.
Solar-powered and with all components being relocatable, coops are shifted every couple of days.
This means chickens are consistently grazing fresh pasture - consuming a varied diet of tasty bugs, seeds and greens.
Coops are clean and healthy, as manure passes through purpose-built mesh floors inside the coops, meaning there is no build-up, and the land is naturally fertilized.
Allowing our chickens to have this superior lifestyle, we are naturally rewarded with a superior product. Our premium pasture eggs are full of flavour, nutrient dense and are glowing with rich golden yolks.

The past few decades of conventional farming has been totally focused on producing volume.
Sadly, nutrition has taken the back seat and consumers generally are more worried about how much or many they can get for their dollar, as opposed to the value of nutrition in what they are eating.
The body demands nutrition - not volume.
We have produced a totally different product to the eggs we have been eating for the past 30 years. We believe we have not just reached our goal but exceeded it!

Winning the FRESH category for 2021 Artisan Awards - the biggest awards in the country! And also recently been awarded a GOLD medal whilst also awarded the "People's Choice" in the 2021 Outstanding Food Producers Awards!
With a record number of 900 entries in the 2021 Artisan Awards from all over New Zealand we are absolutely thrilled for taking out the FRESH category with our eggs!
Achievements like these gives us even more confidence in our unique farming practices and more importantly our end result of amazing eggs!
We are so proud to be putting pasture eggs on the map in NZ and pioneering this style of farming, we couldn't be more prouder!
